  1. What about this images makes them so compelling? Think about all the things you learned about photography in Photo 1 in regards to angle, framing, etc. What relationship happens between photo and viewer in these photos?

These images make them so compelling by the way the photographer has set the shots up with the wild creatures to capture the moment, like he did with the Fox and the Deer. The relationship between the photo and the viewer was that it made us feel like the photo was coming alive with the specific camera angles.

  2. the photos are so clear and the photographer is very good. Many of the animals are off set so they arnt right in the middle (other than pictures of the animals faces). I watched a video on him and he shoots for 4 hours a day every day and in this time he gains trust with the animals around him.

  3. He has it at an extremely small large aperture to get only the animal and the mostly the animals face in focus. He lets the surrounding wildlife become the frame for his image such as the tall grass and trees. The angle he uses makes you either feel intimate with the animal or as though you’re viewing it in its natural habitat. I have never seen someone so close to the animals.

  4. 1. The images look so compelling and good because they are so up close to the animals that its amazing and makes me wonder how the animals trust him so well.
    2. I’m making eye contact with the animals as if they are here in real life. The angle of the camera is placed at the eye level of the animal and the animal is looking at camera. Everything in the background is a blur and I see nothing else but the animal.
    3. No I haven’t really seen a photo of an animal quit like this because the photos that I looked are so up and close and have a lot of detail. The background is also different than other photos that would be taken. Konsta also builds up a relationship with the animals before he takes the photo. He quoted “The animal’s health always comes first and then I get the shots if I can…”

  5. What about this images makes them so compelling? the clarity and how he took such a clean shot an animal like if it was posing for him! Think about all the things you learned about photography in Photo 1 in regards to angle, framing, etc. What relationship happens between photo and viewer in these photos? the animals and him gain trust with each other

Have you seen portraits of animals taken this way, how did they manage to get portraits that make a connection to the viewer like they did here? i have but not this good. i dont think they did they just took the photo of the animal.

  6. What about this images makes them so compelling?
The compelling part of these images is the way he captured these these animals, the view was very close with a blurred back ground.
Think about all the things you learned about photography in Photo 1 in regards to angle, framing, etc. What relationship happens between photo and viewer in these photos?
The viewer saw the emotions the photographer capture in the animals which gave the viewer something to think of.
Have you seen portraits of animals taken this way?
I have seen some but not the exact way, the other photos had a bit more distance from the animals.
How did they manage to get portraits that make a connection to the viewer like they did here?
By capturing the expressions of the animal and using that two show emotion which makes the connection between the viewer and the animal/ photo.

  7. The photos are compelling because imo there is always some kind of relationship with the animal(s) with something else, whether it is something also in frame, the environment in general or the viewer. The photos are also great because they all have very well executed frames. The subjects are mostly centered, but it works. The relationship specifically between the viewer and the subject is that the viewer is seeing them in their natural environment very up close in a very-hard-to-come-by opportunity in a way where the viewer can enter the animal’s world in a way that he/she is welcomed and the animals aren’t scared off. I haven’t seen many animal portraits in this lifetime, but they made a connection the same way I described as here.

  8. What about this images makes them so compelling? Think about all the things you learned about photography in Photo 1 in regards to angle, framing, etc. What relationship happens between photo and viewer in these photos?
The photos are clear. i also like the lighting he goes for. Just how the photos made the viewer feel like were there. Just how close he got to the animals shows how much he waits to get the perfect picture.

  9. These images are so compelling because the photographer made it so only the main focus was actually in focus, the thongs around them were blurred out making it so your attention automatically gets pulled to the animal in focus. In the photos, the photographer uses a lot of leading lines in the images which is a really cool affect because then then the animal in the photo is brought out more and catches your eye. The relationship I see is that you almost feel as though you are there with the animal and can feel what they are feeling from looking in their eyes. I have not seen portraits of animals this way, a lot of the time you can see the animals on the street or in the zoo but you usually can’t find them in where they live, it’s like you can see the lives they live and what they do on a daily basis.

  10. Most of the animals are in the center of the pictures, they are using the rule of thirds in most pictures. The animals are up close and the background is blurred while the camera is focused on the animal. The pictures are at the level of the animals.
I haven’t seen pictures of animals like this.

  11. I really like how the photography uses leading lines in the images to not only look at the animal that is being photographed but to look around and see how the environment is around them. With these images I can get a feeling that I am actually there. These are very unique images and it’s crazy how the photographer was able to gain trust with these animals to get the perfect picture.

  12. 1.The images were taken at the level of the animal and in most of the animals are also in the center of the image. The animals are also mostly looking straight at the camera. This makes the images compelling because it makes the viewer feel like they are there with the animal.
    2. I have never seen portraits of animals taken this way. I have not seen anybody else get so close and personal. He does this by being patient getting the animals trust before getting the picture. Which is why the connection between the photo and the viewer is so strong.

  13. What about this images makes them so compelling? Think about all the things you learned about photography in Photo 1 in regards to angle, framing, etc. What relationship happens between photo and viewer in these photos?

the photographs look so compelling because the photos were taken really close to these animals and most people don`t ever get to get this close to these type of animals and photographs look like there alive it looks like you could reach out and pet the animal and the angle that he takes the photo in just make the photos look even better.

  14. The pictures are very compelling because the pictures are taken very clear and focused on his main subject. You can tell that the background of some of his images are blurred so that you can focus on the main subject. In some of his pictures he uses the technique of leading lines to bring the object closer to you. The relationship between the picture and the viewer is that the image almost looks like you can reach out and grab it.

  15. What makes these photos compelling is that the author uses angles in the photos to make them look so immersive. The focus and angles really help with this effect and it’s interesting.

  16. they just looked like cool pictures of animals to me, most of them were eating food though and it kinda made me hungry. that’s probably why its compelling.

  17. This pictures are compelling because, they’re animal portraits! it’s quite hard to be able to take a picture of animal and use any technique and then get a “human like portrait.”

  18. form what i learned in photo 1 i think the photos are so compelling because the animals fill the frame and how the subject looks at or away from the camera and it has a spot where your eye focus’s on and its so clear and crisp, i just think thats neat cause i cant quite do that

  19. What about this images makes them so compelling? the clarity, clean shot and the animals look so surreal and it makes me think a lot about focus from last year and about sharpness and background imaging.

  20. What makes these images so compelling is that the shots are so up close to the animals and they are the focal point of the picture. The photographer keeps the main part of the photo as a the focal point and does a good job at utilizing the rule of thirds. I have seen pictures like the ones above before, and they make the pictures connect so well to the view by blurring out the background, or photographing the animal in its natural habitat.

  21. What about this images makes them so compelling? Think about all the things you learned about photography in Photo 1 in regards to angle, framing, etc. What relationship happens between photo and viewer in these photos?

  24. What about this images makes them so compelling?
The photographer used “selective focus” to make the creatures eyes clearer and the rest of the photo fuzzier. It really makes the animal become alive and standout.

Have you seen portraits of animals taken this way, how did they manage to get portraits that make a connection to the viewer like they did here?
I have seen a few but not as intriguing as these, however they used their shutter speed and focus is what created these beautiful pictures. Focusing on the face and the movement of each animal

  25. what about theses pictures make them so compelling? you usually never get that close to a animal for a photograph they run way before you can even take the photo there’s a lot of trust between the animal and the photographer it makes the photo so unique and the way the photographer focused the camera on the animal more instead of everything overall like the background or stuff around the animal the pictures like this are so beautiful and definitely hard to take if there was no trust and patience .

  26. 1.What makes these images compelling is how they focus on just the animal and nothing else. 2.The relationship between the photo and the viewer is that they both make eye contact. 3.No i haven’t seen pictures like this before and they zoomed in a lot in the animal.

  27. What about this images makes them so compelling? Have you seen portraits of animals taken this way, how did they manage to get portraits that make a connection to the viewer like they did here?
I don’t remember seeing pictures of animals taken this way but if i did it was probably close up and the animal doing something innocent.

  29. I find that the photos give you a sort of intimacy with the animals, like you could have a deep conversation with them if they could talk or that you are part of their world. The photos are very subject focused, the subject is photographed very closely, you can only see the animal/animals clearly, and most of the photos are very centered and are very vibrant so your eyes immediately go to them. I have seen photos like this before, many in fact. There are many photos of animals that are close up, subject oriented and vibrant. I’ve also noticed that many of the photos caught the animal looking in their direction instead of away.

  30. The photographs are clear and the photographer is pretty good. Many of the animals are off set so they aren’t right in the middle, other than pictures of the animals faces.

  31. The photographs are compelling by the way the photographer captured the animals making it seem as if the viewers were actually there. I’ve never seen photos like these before, its insane how the photographer managed to get so much trust with the animals to capture these up close portraits of the animals.

  32. The pictures are compelling because they are very focused and clear. Also he mostly focused on the face of the object and blurred out the rest. On one of his pictures his lighting technique was butterfly, half of the objects face was a little soften and added in with some shadows. On some of the pictures he added different type of filters . I have never really seen pictures taken like these but I really like how he made them look.

  33. What about this images makes them so compelling? they are all really focused on the animals and the background is out of focus. i wonder how they got to up close with those animals. He used leading lines on some of the images. I like the lighting techniques he used.

They’re all compelling because they all focus on one thing and that is the main thing.
