Cfg Critique – Photo Series

Step 1: Get together in your CFGs and pull up a Photo Series for each member of your group.

Step 2: Each person should be able to answer these questions about each photo in your CFG. Write down the group’s thinking on each of these questions for each of your photos. Post the answers in a google doc and turn it into Google Classroom. Critiques are due on Tuesday.

1.Is there a common theme to these images at first glance? What, in your opinion, is the photo series about? Are you correct on this? Compare what the photographer was trying to say with these photos with what members of your group actually thought the photos were about? Do all five photos tell some sort of story? Is there a common visual present in all five of these photos?  How do the photos evolve or change over the course of five photos? Does the photo series demonstrate thinking outside the box? Is the focus appropriate for the subjects of the photo? Was Photoshop used appropriately to adjust the levels in the photographs ?

2. What could be done to improve the overall quality of this photo series?

Each person turn in a copy of their group’s answers to the above questions.

Critiques are due on Tuesday.

This Week’s Photo Challenge: HDR

For next week’s photo challenge you will create two HDR images, consisting of at least three images for each HDRimages.

For each image you will take at least three photos, but five looks much more like the photo above.

  • One image at normal exposure
  • One image with the exposure upped to +1
  • One image with the exposure upped to +2
  • One image with the exposure reduced to -1
  • One image with the exposure reduced to -2

Once you are in Adobe Bridge, select all five images, then go up to Tools, then HDR toning.

Tweak the settings until you get an image that looks like the above image.

TIP. For modes, take one image and create four copies, adjust each copy to the settings above. This is cheating, in a way, but imagine trying to keep your eye open for all five shots and have them look the same.

TIP: HDR images work best with architecture, wide shots of landscapes, etc.Turn in two HDR images to Classroom,

TWO PHOTOS ARE DUE ON 10/28

REQUIRED RESPONSE: RESPOND TO THIS POST WITH TWO IDEA FOR THIS PHOTO CHALLENGE. Write in complete sentences, write as many details as possible.
